Thanks for the awesome pics of your collection gedcraw555.
It's seeing such pics that makes me wish I had been watching SG1 & Atlantis more closely. I watched SG1 during it's first season, but have only seen a few episodes all the way through since. I've seen less of Atlantis, but know the characters.
I think DST are doing a really good job with the line. Some awesome looking figures & accessories.
I've seen most of these in stock at an Aussie site....think I might have to look into buying some!

Are the Stargate figures easy to "headswap" using the old boiling water trick?
I've recently gotten into Stargate and wanted the "core four". I was unable to find a "green" Jack and Daniel so have ended up going with the "Desert Combat" series 4 set of figures (as it seemed the only way to get a "matching" set of the four since Black Ops Carter does not appear to have been made).
However, I'm not a fan of the t-shirt look for Jack and would like to do a head swap with Daniel. I've recently had some troubles with DST's Battlestar figures (both sets of Apollo's "removeable/switchable" hands broke) and wanted to check on the "safety" of trying to do a head swap.
Also, is anything happening with further SG-1 figures? I know Stargate Atlantis has a new series due "soon" with a Carter (and Kaylee from Firefly), but I wasn't able to find any news on a fifth series of SG-1 (which is another reason I settled for the "Desert Combat" set even though the costumes aren't my favourite).
Cheers.

I think it's late July (23/24).
What has DST been working on recently? It seems as though Battlestar has taken a "back seat" so to speak (although they now have a good six months or so to "catch up" with the characters given the "break" in season 4 until 2009).
And the SG series appears to have been pretty quiet. Are they concentrating on Star Trek at the moment? I guess that would make sense if they have the licence for the new movie.
It's a shame they don't participate in the Q&As anymore. The last SG Q&A appears to be from August 2007.
I'm hoping for some BSG and SG news at SDCC (but really hanging out for MOTU news from Mattel).
Cheers.

Apparently DST don't have the Star Trek movie licence, but Playmates do.
Anyway, onto the topic at hand. I received my first Stargate figures recently (series 4 - desert combat - O'Neill, Jackson, Carter and Teal'c as well as the two leads from Farscape (Aeryn and John Crichton).
I wasn't able to find much information about these figures other than one review at moviemaniacs.com before purchasing and had I know some of the faults I'm about to list I may not have gone ahead (although I did grab them during a 20% off sale).
Firstly, I incorrectly assumed the articulation would be identical to the BSG figures. Nope. Every male figure except Teal'c is missing knee articulation and none of the figures feature a "T" hip to allow sideways movement, even though it looks like the joints were designed with such movement to be intended.
And while somewhat minor, the "t-shirt" characters don't have ball-jointed shoulders?
But, articulation quibbles aside, they are pretty decent figures and once I swapped around O'Neill and Jackson's heads (cue me scrambling around on the floor after I lost one of the clear plastic neck pins), the figures do seem pretty close to their TV counterparts.
The likenesses on all the figures is pretty good. I'm especially pleased with Teal'c since he's my favourite character and he came out look pretty cool (albeit with a mould impression on the top of his head which looks like a very bad war wound).
John and Aeryn are also good, although I haven't gotten to the episodes with them in it as yet.
The only other trouble I have with the figures is getting them to hold their guns. The "spaces" where their hands/fingers are meant to fit through and grip the guns just don't seem suited to the sculpt of the hands. In most instances I've had to just let the gun "rest" where it should sit IF they were able to hold them properly. A weird little detail and it was a bit frustrating at first.
The MALP was also a cool addition, but I would have preferred a Stargate, especially since the series 1 O'Neill and Jackson are impossible to find otherwise I would have gotten them and then received the Stargate as well.
Cheers.

DST just announced SG-SG1 series 5 on their website. As a fan, I find eagerly look foward to these. There are pictures of this wave except for Horus Guard. www.diamondselecttoys.com/The Stargate action figure line has already delivered six assortments (that's over 44 individual figures!) but Diamond Select Toys isn't finished with the intrepid cast of Stargate SG-1 just yet! Previewed here for the first time are some of the stars of the next release - Stargate SG-1 Series 5! Air Force Jack O'Neill: Featuring O'Neill in his highly decorated US Air Force uniform, a highly requested fan-favorite depiction. Black Ops Samantha Carter: Joining her previously released "Black Ops" SG-1 teammates, this figure is based on the season 2 premiere "The Serpent's Lair." Horus Guard: The nefarious cousin to the traditional Serpent Guard, these misguided Jaffa served the family of Ra, including Ra himself and his son Heru'ur. General George Hammond: At last joining his team in action figure form, the late three-star Lieutenant General is depicted in his US Air Force uniform. Ba'al: Based on the Season 10 episode "The Quest," the scheming and conniving Ba'al is a former System Lord and the last of the Goa'uld. As with past releases, each figure in this assortment will be accompanied by pieces of a key Stargate accessory - this time in the form of Stargate Command's armored and weaponized reconnaisance drone, the U.A.V. As a special bonus, a limited case topper figure will also be available from your local comic store in the form of Black Ops Cameron Mitchell. Stay tune for more Toy Fair news and updates as this year's American International Toy Fair begins in earnest this Sunday, February 15th!

That's a decent looking wave.
I would have collected the "black ops" versions of the characters, but since DST refused to confirm the release of a "black ops" Carter, I went with the "camo" figures (since the earlier green fatigues figures were so hard to locate).
Hammond is pretty cool (and a long time coming). He's probably the only one I'll really consider getting.
Good to see they're sticking with SG-1. Hopefully they'll continue with BSG after it's finished on TV also.
Cheers.

My comic store was kind enough to order in some figures for me. They were the SG1 Desert combat assortment (really nice figures & how cool is the m.a.l.p!) plus the PX exclusive Sheppard & Athosian Teyla.
Last week I receievd the season 10 Daniel & Teal'C set.
Really loving this line. The figures seem much better than those DST make for Star Trek.

Last week, I got the Stargate Atlantis series3 figures and I'm really happy with them for the most part. Carter could have been more blond, but I can live with it. The Ancient Chair is great and I'm glad the Shepperd figure has a new head with less smirk. I really hope there is another series. I want FORD and Carson before they end the line. Both could be done with existing molds, they'd just need new head sculpts. As for SG-1, I'm really loving series 5, they could make a Landry using a jacketless Hammond figure. Please don't let it be the last, DST. I finally ordered series 4 desert camo set but I haven't gotten them yet. Soon I will have my 5th transport ring and the MALP!

Have they announced exactly when the Stargate Series 5 wave is coming out, with Hammond? There hasn't been any news recently or official updates for the release dates for a while. Also now news or pictures yet fromS DCC. Some time in March or April, DST pushed the release date to 7/29/09. I expect that Series 5 will be delayed some more. DST indicated that pre-sales have been weak in the last artasylum blog about BSG and Stargate. www.artasylum.com/blog/2009/07/askdst-45-scifi-edition/#more-1091
