I'm so excited! My husband just told me that NECA announced they have acquired the General Harry Potter license and will be producing action figures (among many other items) geared more toward the adult collectors who have followed the series from the beginning. Yay!!!! These are probably going to be awesome! Hey, at the very least we know NECA will produce a product far nicer than what Hasbro has in the past.

That is very cool. I found the original figures to be pretty bad. The Gentle Giant busts and the Tonner dolls are well done but too pricey. I'm excited to see what they come up with. I'd be happy just to have figures from Goblet of Fire or Order of the Phoenix, but from all of the books/films would be very nice.

I want... the trio in school outfits, and Yule Ball outfits, that would be perfect!
And Draco, Voldemort, Snape, Ginny, Luna (could happen, by the time the first line is out OotP is probably released, or almost anyway)

wizarduniverse.com can't always be trusted, but I just came accros this: Harry Potter Series 1 Action Figures Case of 14 (Advance Order) For the first time comes these highly detailed and movie accurate versions of your favorite characters from the world of Harry Potter are presented in toy form! The first assortment includes: Harry in Tri Wizard Cup outfit, Lord Voldemort, Dementor, and 2 different versions of the Death Eaters (normal head or skull). Blister card packaging. Case contains 14 figures with no guarantees on assortment. Of course, I don't know if this is NECA or not, but I assume it is. And if it's not, anyone know what brand it is? I'm always looking to collect more HP stuff. wizarduniverse.stores.yahoo.net/jan074530.html

I saw the Cards Inc figures. I will get whichever line has more character diversity & the most articulation. Neca often do statuesque type things, which I'm not into...but Cards Inc. seem to be doing a proper action figure line. I was always pissed with previous Potter figure waves as we never ONCE saw a figure of McGonagall....we saw Dumbledore, Snape, Quirrel, Lockhart & Flitwick...but never Minerva! So hopefully Cards inc. are not one of those companies scared to release female characters....we'll see I guess. Mattel (Was it Mattel??) LEGO - best character diversity to date! Mini's - Once again no McGonagall...or Hooch...or Trelawney!

Although I also wanted more female character I was irked by the scale of POA figures and the lack of Sirius Black. I know Neca is going to focus on POA and GOF so hopefully with cards doing 5 we'll get a good selection. I'd like to get: Sirius Black, Lupin, new trio, Fred/George, Luna, Tonks, Mad-Eye Moody, Ginny, Neville, Draco, Malfoy Sr., Bellatrix, McGonagall (in number 5 she is a must), and Dumbledore. And although I have a feeling their never even be on screen I'd like a set of the teenage Maraduers.

The little accessories around the Mattel figures are from Harry Potter charm sets...each set came with a bracelet the charms could attach to....but they are in scale with the figures, so I bought them for the display.
The larger sets include the Whomping Willow game who's tree I display & the Basilisk Attack set which came with a Hogwarts corridor & bathroom setting.
I have all 3 of the 5" Hermione figures made...the rather aweful original one, the cat version & the Chamber Hermione, who thankfully had much more accurate, over the shoulder hair. Though you can't really see the first two in the pic above.
I had a few troubles with Dumbledore....I was screwed on eBay TWICE on his figure (sent money & never received), before I secured him with someone I could trust. He's ended up costing me around $300 over time!

The first line will be Voldamort, Harry in his tri-wizard robes, a Dementor, Deatheater with skull mask, and Deatheater with a regular mask.
They're next line will be Ron and Hermione from OotP, Hagrid from PoA with Norber and Fang. And I think a Snape and Sirius Black.

It will be interesting to see Hermione. Mattel was able to capture the looks of Harry & Ron in a cute way, but Hermione they could not do. I'm really looking forward to this line, Dumbledore is amazing.

Of course Im thrilled about this line and Im just moaning for the sake of moaning really....still mega pleased to see these figures...but Id prefer a diff figure in the first wave.

Yeah, there's a good chance I'll skip the first line. My favorite characters (Hermione, Sirius, Ron, and Hagrid) are all in Series 2. I think I'll just wait to get those.
