No I think its a great deal myself also, two figures plus all those cool accesories, plus a graveyard you can build upon. Love it.

I don't think $8 for two figures is too expensive. I guess I'm in the minority though. These are great little figures that can be customized up the wazoo without needing too much talent. I've already pre-ordered them. It's just a little disappointing that buffy fans aren't responding better to these because this is likely to be the only release of these if no one buys them. I was worried about that too, but actually, they have done really well in pre-sells, much better than Palisades had expected. That's why that hurried and got the X - Files lisenence, because the Buffy PALz were such great sellers.

Andrew Quote:
I will start this post by stating that the new pictures you have shown, Andrew, still retain the 'cute' factor that was the main reason I decided to order a set of these figures in the first place...but... I'm afraid my opinion, so far, has not changed!
My ire over the design change just hours after I purchased these figures has diminished considerably. And I believe I am looking at the changes with a more open-minded attitude, but the more I compare the original design to the final product, I am more convinced that my first impression was correct. The first concept for these figures is a better design!
Now saying that, I will admit, I like the change Palisades did to the arms in bring it up to the shoulder joints. And trying to look at the proto-type as if it was the first time I had ever seen a Buffy figure as a block figure I have to say it looks very nice. But, I am not a block figure type person. I like my figures to look more realistic and the cylindrical arms, rounded hands and waspish waists of the original design makes these figures (to me) look more like miniturized action figures. A design I prefer.
Now, to prove my open-mindedness, I am trying to change my mind-set into understanding that these 'are not' miniaturized action figures, but 'block figures'. Square bodies, square arms, square legs. And I will enjoy them for what they are.............but..........I give fair warning to Palisades Toys that if one morning I wake up to see a giant cube on top of Buffy's shoulders that they call a head, they will not be able to hide from my verbal ire.
Karen
(Did anyone else notice that the new pictures of the prototypes seemed to be posed in such a way that you couldn't see the 'claw' type look to the hands?)

These are really growing on me, and for one huge reason: They're oh-so-poseable.
I'm the type of person who loves to play with my figures -- do Toyfare Theater, put them in little action poses, make them kick some butt. I still lament the no bicep and thigh articulation on the latest Willows.
So, anyway... They're adorable and fun and ultra-poseable and they look really sturdy (something some of the joints on the 6" aren't), and they're little enough to not take up too much space. Originally I was all about getting just one, but now I'm totally tempted to get more.

Just wanted to chime in here. I myself am looking forward to these and here is my reason. I have not opened my figures (extremely hard thing to do) and with these i plan on opening them and playing with them and displaying with them and watching tv with them ... okay i am a little off track here. I am just excited to have something I will be able to open. Really wish I could go to WWChicago... Would love to have one of the PP Buffy ones. Not to mention Joss will be there. Joss is GOD.

I also keep telling myself I'm not getting these (how many more expensive habits do I need?), but I also keep looking at them, so we'll see how long I hold out!
I'm new to PALz, and I'm a little puzzled at people saying there are 2 figures per package - don't you just get 1 figure per package, but you can change it around so it has a different facial expression/outfit/ whatever? If I wanted to display both versions at once, I'd have to buy 2 packages, right?

I haven't pre-ordered any of these, but I know I will end up buying one of each (including the chase and exclusives). I love all the changes the've made to the bodies, and actually I LOVE the hands, they are MUCH better than those awful claw-type hands, but that's just my opinion.

I find the Willow card to be too crowded. All of the other cards have just ONE character on them, while Willow's card has Xander and Giles joining her. I think if they have time, they should change that card.

You know when they said trading cards, I was hoping they would make them with the actual little block figures in popular Buffy scenes. I think that would have been too cute and different from the same old, same old.

If I wanted to display both versions at once, I'd have to buy 2 packages, right? You're right. I think some people earlier in the thread were a bit confused. These are being sold individually (with each figure having an alternate/transformation look). I think maybe some people are thinking of the Minimates, a popular line of block figures sold in 2 packs. Palz break from that tradition by being individual.

After some consideration, I've decided that I am not going to be purchasing these. Even though they are different and unique, they don't really seem like 'collectibles' to me...at least not as much as the 6" figures, busts, and statues.
I may consider getting a different series of these figures, but that depends on the season and whether or not the versions of each character are worth getting.
