this is a copy of the e mail i receieved from cinequest
Greetings, Welcome to the most exciting news we've sent yet to our CineQuest.com newsletter subscribers - we're going to have our own exclusive Dark Witch Willow figure in partnership with Moore Action Collectibles! There's more on this in the article below but suffice it to say we're ecstatic! As Buffy fans, we had to have this figure and when Moore cancelled the next series of Buffy figures, we knew something should be done. So we did it and we're glad of it!
Thanks to you for your support and your visits to CineQuest.com!
Cheers!
Mark Del Vecchio
Here's the official news:
SAN DIEGO (July 17) - CineQuest.com and Moore Action Collectibles today announced they are teaming up to produce an exclusive Dark Witch Willow 6" action figure. The official announcement was made today at Comic-Con International in San Diego by MAC founder Clayburn Moore.
"We're overjoyed that there will be a new Willow figure and that CineQuest.com will be a part of it," said CineQuest President Mark Del Vecchio. "The figure will clearly be a welcome addition to the already amazing line of Moore Buffy and Angel figures."
CineQuest.com approached Moore after the recent cancellation of the Buffy Series Five and Angel Series Two figure lines and the two companies have worked together to ensure this figure would be produced.
This partnership comes on the heels of the CineQuest.com Exclusive Drusilla ornament that was released earlier this year and marks a new phase of the MAC-CineQuest.com partnership
Expected to ship in early December, this limited edition Dark Witch Willow figure will be available only through CineQuest.com and the Moore Collector's Society.
Society members can begin ordering the figure next week when the MAC staff returns from Comic-Con.
Media or other inquiries can be directed to info@cinequest.com.
HOE COOL IS THAT.

Awesome. Thanks for letting us know, AnyaEmmerson. And way to go, CineQuest. Lot’s of retailers claimed to try and convince MAC to release at part of the canceled line but we haven’t seen any results…not until now. ;D

Which other retailers have tried to get MAC to produce the figures? *Still hoping for at least a vamp willow* I just heard some rumors that Action Figures Xpress, Cinequest and a few other retailers trying to reason with MAC. I didn’t believe those up until now. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Although I am happy for everyone who is happy with this news, but I have to say that I am not all that thrilled. I guess it was to be expected that one of the exclusive holders would do this.
The problem with this news is, that it removes any and all possibilty of MAC giving up the license any time soon (assuming the figure license is a different one than the license for busts and staues). I am aware that it was quite a long shot, but maybe there would have been interest from another company. Now that can't happen, at least not until after December. And the only thing we're getting in return is this one figure. Given Cinequest's pricing, the figure may be quite costly and overseas collectors like myself would have to add the shipping costs as well.
Ah well, just glad I didn't get my hopes up too far...
