When someone put the pics try to put Angel more dark, since i think the light ruined the likeness, to me the problem with Angel is the expression, that half smile expression only works for happy character and Angel isn't very happy at all.

I got Pylean Demon Angel today! I really like the sculpt and paint job of his face. I can't get him to hold the portal book though. Next up: Season 3 Fred and Illyria!

Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you post pics of him? when are the Season 3 Fred and Illyria coming cordanya? I would if I could, but I sadly don't have a scanner. Season 3 Fred and Illyria should be coming Friday. Back to Pylean Demon Angel, is it me or is he the one with the least amount of accessories in this wave?

I'm loving Angel, and I think Illyria looks incredible too.
I think Fred's face would make a perfect custom of Ms. Swan from Mad TV.

Durn, you beat me to the pics! Buts that's okay - my camera is kind of cheap and my best won't be home until late tonight for me to borrow his most excellent camera.
A few things I noticed that I haven't seen elsewhere:
1. No foot holes!!! So far they do all stand really well, but no peg holes at all (ala Spike).
2. "Fredless" aired this morning on TNT which is cool as I honestly did not remember Fred in pigtails at all...so even though the outfit isn't in this episode, the hair do is, which makes me appreciate the figure more - especially the sword thrower accessory which plays a prominent role in this episode (and also something I didn't remember - I didn't realize how many early Buffy and how much of practically all of Angel I have missed! It's wonderful - like the series has so many new stories to offer that it's not even off!). :-) I agree with ChampofHotStdliness that the eyes could be a little more emotive. And I think Fred could be skinnier as well as shorter (she's taller than even Deluxe Buffy - but I know Sarah Michelle Gellar is very short in real life)...so I'm rewatching the episode on my DVR to see just how tall and such Fred is (since that can be misleading frequently). I'm already thinking Fred's head on Willow's body (Transformation or even Season 5) might make some awesome customs! :-)
3. If anyone doubted it, Illyria (and Fred) have the soft rubbery hair which i LOVE!!! Illyria can do her "head tilt" characteristic look (of course the action figure can't quite express the real look, but okay enough for dioramas!). :-) Also, Illyria's Left hand is the "open flat" so you can recreate when she created and walked through the portal to her old army, which is cool! :-) Also, at first I thought her hips weren't articulated - but they are just stiff (and luckily much stronger than the Deluxe Figures, so I doubt anyone will snap them!). :-) Oh, and don't overlook her little coffin crystal in the upper left corner of her package - I almost didn't even see it there (not that I'd throw away the package, but still easy to miss, especially if you get as excited as me with new figurs!).
4. Angel - okay, I see what the other people were saying about his head looking a little off - I still think they captured D.B. Season 5 look quite well, but it goes from looking quite like him to an older, slightly lumpy version, then right back to looking exaclty like him. Very interesting. One thing I notice about all the figures is the eyes..they always seem to be looking off into space. I'm not sure if there's anyway to make them look like the are looking at you or whatever, but I think that's one thing that always throws me. And I have to ask (because I know someone has looked!) - what is under Season 5 ANgel's shirt? Now I did cut open Bad Girls Wes' Suit Jacket, but not sure I'll do it to Angel's shirt, so wondering if he has a shirt on oor just a blanl chest painted flesh in just the neck area? So come on, who ever has peeked or cut the seams open,l share your findings (with a pic preferably!).
If anyone wants to see any comparisons or poses, etc, let me know and I'll get some up asap even with my crummy camera, with better ones later after I borrow my buddy's camera. And just to make sure everyone knows that my notes are NOT criticisms but merely obervations, i LOVE THESE FIGURES!!!! I LOVE THEM!!!! :-) Excellent DST - I love what you have done with the line, Keep them coming and I'll keep buying!!! :-)
P.S. I even like the stands! :-) Oh - and Illyria's Weapons ARE removeable - they are held in place by little pegs molded into the weapons themselves that plug into the wall - just gently rotate them round and round until they pull out from the wall! And someone asked about the writring on the back of Fred's wall? Maybe I misunderstood but there is no writing on the back of it, just the front - lemme me know roughly which section(s) you can't make out and I'll write 'em doown (mostly formulae, but some non-sense "crazy talk) like "There is no mold for reason, time space and pleiglass" "fine point solved in a cube"(?), etc. :-)

Hot-STD-liness?! What are you trying to imply? Lmao And yeah! I thought Angel's shirt was sculpted, but if you say there's something under there, I'd ALSO like to know what it is.

Okay, Fred is absolutely too big!!! Too tall, too "thick"...Illyria I can overlook as she was wearing boots and whatnot to look taller, and who really knows what being hollowed from inside out and then inhabited by a two-million year old Power that Was, but Season 3 Fred is like...well, like "My Gentle Giant" from Sorority Boys!
She dwarfs all the other female characters. Now, I can't tell from the episodes I have taped or on DVD, but I always thought Fred was quite petite, maybe not SMG size but certainly not much (if any) taller than Willow. And she's a giant! But then again, she does come from Texas, and supposedly everything is bigger there. Hmm. Maybe I should plan a vacation there sometime. Heh heh. :-)
Champion of Hotness I think is the one who said it best - she looks like a 7" scale figure. And I already popped off her head (I LOVE the new head types - makes customizing wonderfully easy - well, at least where the size matches!). :-) Anyway, her head too is wayyyy too big for the Willow body, so there's go that idea for a custom. Not sure what happened, but she definitely is out of scale.
I'll try to take a comparison pic of them in just a bit (my frined got home earlier than I expected so I have his hi quality camera!).

Here we go - some group shots comparing Fred's larger scale to the other gals.... ANd the Fang Gang, from a variety of Time Zones (would have been a cool story - a Spell goes awry and each member of the gang is replaced by a version of theirself from a different time...imagine if Fred would have been replaced by Illyria!). :-) And of course there's no Gunn (or Harm, or even Connor). And I really need a Short Hair Cordy (I can't believe all the times I passed on the el cheapo Slave Cordy...if anyone has one they want to part with, eaither version, just lemme know your price!). :-)

Oh my GOD!! Fred's height is obscene!! She towers over the other women like Shaquille O'Neal! I can say now that she is by FAR the most out of scale character in the entire collection.
Maybe I'll change my mind, but I don't think I'll be getting her now. She's taller than Spike and nearly as tall as Angel!
Just seeing Illyria with them all is horrifying. She looks like she should be playing for the WNBA. However, I'll probably wind up overlooking that just because she's still so cool looking.

Dude, nothing you haven't already implicated or confirmed in your own posts... <nod nod, hint hint, wink wink> :-) ***Champ Dude - see my post below, I meant "STUD" not "STD" and realized AFTER I posted this...sorry buddy! :-) But yes, Angel's shirt is most definitely NOT sculpted, but a rubber shirt like Wes and Lorne's Jackets. I *think* I can feel some pec-age underneath, and you can actually roll the bottom of his shirt up enough to see black on at least that part of his...belly I guess. I wonder if he's wearing a black wife beater or if (like Bad Girls Wes) he's just painted down far enough to make sure no one can see who isn't trying to and then more or less blank (i.e. Wes's tie is painted black all the way down, but the polka dots end about half way down, same goes for the stripes of his shirt. I know already if someone doesn't post soon I'll be gently slicing open his shirt with a Matt Knife...err, I mean a Mat Knife <grin>. If I do I'll post what I find under there...but it seems it would make sense from a financial standpoint to use an already carved torso. :-)

Yep, I wonder if Fred was like "rushed" out due to the popularity of Illyria and the demands on the boards for the figure...Certainly the scale had to be obvious to them when they made her, and considering the incredible attention DST pays to detail, I'm surprised by this.
Now, this isn't to say she's so horrible that she's not a worthy figure, and alone with Wes she's okay (and comes up to just shy of being his own height whereas Fred on the show comes up to Wes's chest I think). So all in all it's not horribly unforgiveable (like the scale of the 3rd Doctor and Mel for anyone who collected the Doctor Who Figure line), but again, surprisingly considering the high quality DST is known for.
I've read n various places that the plastic figures are made actually shrinks quite a bit once it removed from the molds. I've read this makes keeping figures in the correct scale quite a challenge as the amount of plastic (and I'm assuming the type varies as well in how much it shrinks) also affects the size of the final, hardened product. Perhaps Fred is made of a different type of plastic or something like that led to her and Illyria looking out of scale. I'm just reaching for ideas...I'm curious to see if DST will address the issue. Maybe we'll get a more in-scale Fred later on (I for one hope the line continues forever!). Either way, it's going to be a great challenge for the customizers and I'm already trying to think of ways I could "shrink" her down.... :-) Dag gone, this is the fastest I've ever started doing things to brand new figures - cutting Angel's shirt open (next post), popping off Fred's head to investigate custom potential with Willows body (no go) and the like. But yes, I still like these trmendously!!! :-)

Okay, yes, I play Strip Poker with Angel, at least to the undershirt level. :-) And as I suspected, yes, he has a sculpted Torso underneath - same as "The Ring" Angel's Torso. He is not, however, painted - the flesh tone goes about halfway down and then is black (the color of the plastic it's molded in I believe). There's also some residue of black glue around his upper chest area, or at least that's what I think it is, probably to keep the shirt more secured to his body. Anyway, this is great news for customizers - a little bit of paint and you've got a cool custom Angel lookin' all sexy with his shirt hanging open and his wife beater on underneath. I'm trying to recall a show that he actually appears in this way - anybody think of one? I'll grab a pic from the screen shot sites and paint him tonight! :-) Oh, one last thing - the shirt closes back up very well (assuming you cut it carefully at a very slight angle in wards and don't keep it bent back with his arms holding like I do in the picture as that tends to make it stick out more. Anyway, so those who are curious and want to cut it - you can do so and not totally eff up your figure and hate yourself afterward). :-)

OMG! I can't believe how tall Fred is! That's crazy. At least she's still shorter than Angel.
It's hard to tell much from that lineup. Darla and Buffy are very short people. Tiny, even. The Willow Deluxe Fred is next to is actually a Buffy figure, so that's not a fair measure. The Cordy figure is the one most out of scale in that lineup. She should be much taller than Buffy, even considering that her legs have a wide stance.
But Fred is taller than Spike, which isn't right.
Amy Acker is probably between 5'4" and 5'6". I've stood next to James Marsters. I'm 5'8" and he's about my height. He's a short man and only looks tall next to short people like SMG and Alyson Hannigan. Fred would be taller than Spike if she were in heels. Is she taller than Cordy? I've never noticed. I know Cordy towered over Buffy, even when they were both in heels.
Thanks for posting the pics, Newton DKC!

Question for those of you who have a Fred: Is her hair removeable? Is the part on her scalp rubbery and easily removable, or is it sculpted on, like OMWF Anya?
I'm desperate to know!
