 The Judge Wave CANCELLED!
« Thread Started on Aug 20, 2007, 4:22am »

When I asked Kevin from BCC/TST if the ReVamped line was canceled, here's what he said:

Quote:

Sadly, it does appear that Revamped will be cancelled, just not near enough people pre-ordered it to justify production costs. We will have more to say about that very soon, and also about the Judge wave which is in jeapardy too. So if you have a voice out there in Buffy fandom land, I would suggest rallying the fans to pre-order more figures (from any store, DST, Cinequest, Pixel barrel, AFX, etc.) because we need more pre-order numbers to report to DST!

So we seriously need to give it another push if we wish to get these figures. :-/

Edit: More bad news! :'( Another email from Kevin:

Quote:

Looks like it happened much sooner that I expected...DST has canceled the Judge wave this morning. I will continue to work on a plan to save it, but hopes are not good based on the number they claim need to be ordered to save it. We would need about 3000 more people to order the full sets of 6 figures (all in addition to what's already been pre-ordered).

If this wave isn't on the water yet, then its probably to late already. I already have two set on pre-order.

How can a line this close to being released be in jeopardy?! It should be on the boats on it's way to the stores, if not now, then very soon. This is ridiculous! They CANNOT cancel the Judge wave now! That would be horrible.

I pre-ordered the Judge wave already also. That stinks, I was looking forward to this group.

I got the email from Matt at DST on August 3rd...so I can't believe that this has happened since then. I mean I believe it...but, well I didn't expect it.

Hey Adam,

We’re certainly not cancelling anything, just not ready to show it just yet. There have been some small snafu’s with the Judge wave that we’re trying to work out, but unfortunately that means the rest of our Buffy stuff is getting pushed back a little bit until it’s resolved. I don’t think we’d sculpt all this stuff and then never release it ;)

Hopefully we’ll get the new figures shown somewhere soon!

Yeah, how can this possibly be cancelled after production? Ugh, talk about going out with a wimper. These are so much better than the Faiths.

I think they are just coming up with excuses to increase the pre-sales on these figures...probably didn't reach the numbers they were hoping. But it's stupid that they relay on fans since casual buyers won't bother pre-ordering.

What I don't get is why to push back the rest of the stuff? Does that means we won't get to see Essence of statues till god know when? That's ridicules!

I wish DST would speak up. This is the second time this Judge figures are 'at risk' and I'd like to hear something official. I'm tired of all this speculation. DST needs to say something, when so many of their figures are in 'are they canceled?' mode.

No one is going to pre-order them, if they think they are being canceled.

I already ordered a case of each, so not like I can pre-order more.

I think this is the end of Buffy at DST.

I'm not liking the sound of this considering many may have already paid for their pre-sales of the Judge wave to get the BCC free shipping. TST/BCC are always so difficult to deal with when it comes to getting money back.

I don't get why cancel the entire line instead of lowering the production run?

Because they don't give a shit anymore. No, I'm sure it has something to do with making enough for it to even be worth it, it prob. is already a smaller production from the normal.

So this is what it felt like at the end of MAC, eh?

This is going to hurt their sales though, why bother pre-ordering anything anymore, when everything they say they are going to release they cancel.

It's part of their job to solicit the stuff they make, and they aren't doing that anymore so how can they expect the sales.

If they REALLY wanted to and were fans like they always say, they could figure something out.

It's really funny to me that they want more people to pre-order things when this is what happens when you pre-order. You just end up with hundreds of dollars floating around not knowing if you're ever going to see the product. I know I personally took a chance and pre-ordered the whole line ... hopefully it won't be too hard to get that money back.

I think there really should be some "official" response to these concerns from DST. They are aware of this forum and seeing people's reactions, they should either confirm or put a stop to these rumors.
I get really frustrated when I read these things because as a BCC member, I've pre- ordered and PAID for for these items. So, they've had my money since the beginning of the year! And the BCC should also notify those folks who pre-ordered these lines to let them know if there are problems as soon as they arise.

I'm getting the same feeling I had when Sideshow put their 12 inch line "on hiatus", that's it's a way to bump up their profits by offering only higher priced items (ie. Premium Format figures). As many Buffy collectors are young adults or adults (vs. tweens, and younger), they are targeting these buyers. By offering less product (less overhead for them) at higher costs to the buyer, they up the demand( so they think) and therefore, their own profit margins.
Frankly, I'm tired of paying premium prices for new Buffy collectibles, especially as the quality has seemed to go down markedly (with the exception of PF Spike).

Exactly, Luckly I pre-ordered from my brother-in-law who orders directly from them for his store so I'm not worried about the money, just really bummed. I wanted the Drus/Oz/Wood figures the most, more then the revamped for sure, and more then the deluxe.

Hell, I'd pay more per figure at this point to actually get them.

I think if DST can't produce any of those figures we should demand them giving up right for the 6" line and persuade another company to pick it up.

We did it once we can do it again - not to mention now we have all the comic books (Buffy and Angel) and future products to backup the rising interest.

Why the HELL would they cancel a line this far into production!!!! Who is managing DST?! They put all this money into sculpting and tooling all 7 of these figures (not to mention the unproduced ones) and they aren't going to release them! It seems to me that they have put so much money into them that it would be better for them at this point to produce them and make something back. Hell, right now I would be happy with unpainted T1's of all the figures...I'll paint them myself!
