Will you guys start making more figures from the early seasons now that there is a library playset coming out?

The library playset has not specifically given us inspiration for early season versions of characters BUT each time we do a character we look at their life on the show. Early season versions in the future are very possible.

Any news on a Buffy DST Collector Club? Is that still on the radar? I remember something DST said about something "coming back from the dead" for Buffy collectors and everyone assumed it was a new version of the old MAC collectors club. Were we wrong?

We've done some work on it but it's just not a priority for us this year. All the partners are doing a wonderful job getting product to the Buffy fans and we like to have the web site as a last resort.

I think the limited signed edition of 'Hush' Tara -when Amber Benson signed the blister card before the plastic was put on- is a great idea!! There was 500 of those. Any plans for another limited signed edition?

THANKS! Yes, that's kind of a DST trademark and we have plans to do more in the future.

Will any of the Buffy and Dawn Figure's bases connect?

Not like a puzzle, but as more come out you can add parts to make scenes. Like the Pylea versions of different characters.

Any chance for a battle damaged Chosen Buffy instead?

No plans right now to change the paint that dramatically, but we could always use it as a promo in the future.

Can you give us any information on how or what changes may be made to the Buffy figures?

Way too soon! They are still in for approval as I type this. As always, what we show first are hand-made hand-painted samples.

Are there going to be any boxsets or two-packs related to this line (Buffy/Dawn)?

YUP - BOTH!

Have we seen all the figures or is there a third Dawn still to be revealed?

Kind of yes to both...

When will we hear about accessories?

Soon. Some were at the show and the rest are being painted right now.

Is getting them out for Christmas the reason why they (Buffy/Dawn) are being released so soon?

We always planned for three waves this year (Spike counted as 04) so we HOPE to get these out for Christmas 05. Many of the actors in the show have approval rights to their likeness and while they have all been very responsive and co-operative, they are just hard to track down at times and that can cause unexpected delays.

Will the next wave after Buffy and Dawn be "Buffy" or "Angel" focused, or a bit of both

We're thinking Buffy, but as you have seen by now all of the lines cross over.

Is there ANY chance that the mid-thigh swivel could be included with some or all of the newly announced Buffy figures.

No plans for that change right now.

Will there be two Willow busts?

Maybe two - maybe more - BUT we haven't even announced her, have we?

Seeing as how we are expecting another boxset this year, will that boxset have a newly sculpted character (besides Buffy and Dawn)?

Whether it comes out this year at this point is up to the partners. They may want to wait since we have shipped and will continue to ship so much Buffy product through the end of the year... AND it will have a new character. That's all I'll confirm at this point.

Do you have the Serenity Series II planned? If yes, would you like to share?

At this point we need to see how sales of the first series progress. We're certainly open to continuing with more characters.

Is there a carded version of Parting Gifts Wesley?

YES!

Do you have any plans for merchandise based on Buffy's appearance in "The Gift"?

As you can see, we're messing with lots of Buffy stuff right now but nothing I can say for now either way.

I'm really thrilled to hear that there will be both a box-set and a two-pack in this wave. I wonder if the new character will be Glory or Joyce--I hope we can get like a boxset of Joyce, Buffy and Dawn and Glory in a two-pack but I don't think that's gonna happen. I'm kind of torn on which new character I want more though, Joyce or Glory . . .

Excellent news about the boxset and two pack.

I think I'm starting to want the boxset to have Buffy, Dawn, and Joyce instead of having a Glory, hmm.

I definitely would rather have a Glory than a Joyce. But I'd rather have Joyce in a boxset and a few variants of Glory.

It'll be fun to see what episode or theme they use for the two-pack.

Have I missed something here? Or is it a pretty huge hint.

There's Pylea Lorne who comes with a stage. And there's Pylea Demon Angel who comes with part of the castle's control room.

They don't "connect" at all? Is this a hint at a Pylea boxed set of some style? Human Angel, Pylea Wesley, Slave girl Fred and even a Pylea Lorne?

Pity about "battle damaged" Chosen Buffy. Buffy is a pretty major fighter. With somewhat "battle damaged" (and coincidentally shirtless) versions of Spike and Angel, I was hoping for a "tougher" looking Buffy.


Buffy two-set and boxed set? I'm going for a The Gift boxed set with Buffy, Dawn, Glory and maybe even Buffybot.

As for the two-pack. I'm leaning towards a Together Forever style Buffy and Angel and a Buffy and Spike boxed set. Not sure which episodes though.

And all of the lines do not cross over (eg Buffy and Dawn). So, hopefully this means the next Buffy wave will have either Cordelia or Harmony (hoping for a Cordelia, but will wait and see).

MAJOR bummer about the mid-thigh twist. It adds so much.

Is there an accessories thread somewhere for the Buffy and Dawn wave. I want to articulate my ever present desire for a "weapons trunk" accessory for one of the Buffy figures (with removeable false shelf and space to store all sorts of weapons underneath).

Ask Diamond:

1. What did you mean by the "Pylea" reference from Ask Diamond # 28 (given that DST have only announced Pylean versions of Angel and Lorne)?

2. When can we expect an announcement regarding the next line of deluxe figures?

3. Does one, some or all of the Buffy figures come with Buffy's weapon trunk as an accessory?

4. Are there any "Angel" (as in the show not the character) themed boxed sets or two packs planned?

I was thinking the exact same thing. I mean they have an Angel, Fred, Wesley and Lorne. They could change them into their Pylea outifts. And hopefully a Gunn and Pylea Princess Cordy will be in one of the next lines.

Where did Ask Diamond #27 go? I can't find it.

1. How did DST decide on the look of the regular Fred's outfit? It's such an unconventional and unexpected choice.

2. Any chance of adding ball-joint shoulders to the regular line-up? Since the poses are now static, this new feature would allow a great new range of motion, and wouldn't hamper the realistic sculpts much. Either way, I'd rather have this articulation than a square shoulder.

3. Are all of the new Buffy faces scans, or sculpted? Which are which?

4. When will Serenity figures hit stores?

5. How come Jayne doesn't have thigh articulation in his legs?

The only accessories present at the show were their bases. And OMWF Dawn and Nightmares Buffy didn't even have those. I bet they are still working on them...
I'm thinking that the box set would be cool if it was like a Summers Album, with Joyce. I'd prefer to have Joyce (who has been in every season) than Glory. But who knows, we might be getting both.

Question for Ask 29:

After spending time at DST's booth at SDCC this year, I noticed merchandise for other brands such as AVP have things like snowglobes and bookends. Are there plans to include products of that nature in the Buffy/Angel line?

Alright, that means they plan on having Pylea versions of all their characters. So far we have a Lorne, Angel, and a Cordelia (from MAC). Not, by saying different versions, I think they mean all characters will be in a Pylea type outfit...which means Cordelia and Gunn seem like feasable choices.

Like others, this means a 'Gift' boxset. The OMWF Dawn can easily be changed into a 'Gift' version, and add in a Buffy and Glory, and there we go. However, a 'Joyce' boxset is a huge possibility too.

I am going to guess Cordelia is almost a given, and possibly Harmony/Faith

I have some questions for Diamond...

1. Will we ever see new ornaments of Wesley, Lorne, or Anya? The original ones released for Angel Series II were from the MAC and are extremly tough to track down and the Diamond sculpts are by far better.

2. Will the backs of the new Angel/Fred Buffy/Dawn bases be able to attach to a wall in some way? (i.e. a hook or something?)

3. If you were to re-do a character again like you have with Buffy/Willow/Spike, will you ever make the same type of variants that Moore originally did? As an example, if the next wave were to include Cordelia would you consider making a new Cheerleader Cordelia version?

4. Any chance we will ever see Fyarl Demon Giles, Riley, or Adam in some shape or form? Obviously the D'hoffryn made sense with Anya/Anyaka, but the same case could be made for the other figures as well (Possibly a 'True Love' boxset with Buffy/Angel, Buffy/Riley, Buffy/Spike)?

5. If you do plan on making the Willow busts like you have hinted at, will it be two different type of Willows (Like Vampire Willow and Dark With Willow), or something along the line of Spike (One Regular/One vamp)?

I love the Ask Diamonds like that. When we get loads of new info and their very open to their plans. I can't believe we are getting a two pack and a boxset for the Buffy wave I'm really excited. Plus I'm glad we are getting another Buffy wave after the Buffy/Dawn line as I think we need a couple more characters form Buffy done before we get anymore Angel.

As far as the Pylea figures connecting, I too am thinking that after Pylea Angel is made that there will be more Pylea figures. Who knows maybe we will see a Pylea Fred figure that is a show exclusive next year? Then there is always a chance of seeing a Pylea Cordy and Pylea Gunn. It would be nice to see a Pylea Groo, but that isn't likely to happen.

As for the Willow busts, I'm thinking 3 or 4. I mean there's Willow, Vampire Willow, Dark Willow and White Witch Willow. I'd buy them all if they came out with them all. But they should make the bases of the busts all completely different.

I'm so glad that there is a yes to 2 packs and yes to boxset with Buffy and Dawn. I'm also excited to see this new character. I'm guessing that there is going to be a boxset of "The Gift" with Buffy, Dawn and Glory. But hey you never know it coul be with Joyce. I'm hoping for both figures to be released but I think that I want Glory more.

As far as the crossover part, I'm thinking that with Cordelia and Harmony they both crossover. To me that would be an excellent Buffy wave and have crossover figures of both characters. I really want a Pylea princess Cordy, "You're Welcome" Cordy, new Cheerleader Cordy, Higher Being Cordy, and "The Wish" Cordy, as for Harmony, I want a "Graduation Day" Harmony or "Harsh Light of Day" Harmony, with a Vampire Variant of either figure, a Season 5 (Angel Version) Harmony with a Vampire Variant of her as well.

As far as any other figures next year I'd love to see waves of
Xander/Riley
Giles/Jenny
Faith/Kennedy
Drusilla/The Mayor
Cordy/Harmony
Gunn/Lindsay
Connor/Lilah

Excellent news.

BUT, if DST continue to do specials a la signed "Hush" Tara, is there anyway international collectors can get a fair crack at the whip rather than forking out loads on eBay or via "partners/holders" of DST? Forbidden Planet doesn't get the exclusive rarities like these and with the mark up on the regular figures I shudder at the thought of the price if they did! Can DST not sell figures through UK DST/Diamond somehow?
