Is the core 3 figure assortment of a wave based upon DST's favorite of the waves variants? Or just those predicted to sell better?

*** We try not to play favorites, so fan request and even more so sales decide something like that.



What is your opinion on Gwen Raiden? As an only 3-episode character, is she at all likely?

*** Not very high on our list - sorry.



You seem to be plowing through figures based on "Chosen", though they are both in the 'regular' and deluxe lines. If you carry on to create most of the Chosen characters in the deluxe line (when/if it takes over), would you consider re-doing the 'regular' lined ones to fit in better?

*** Maybe but right now we're doing what we can to make each line as unique as possible.



Does Diamond foresee using the 'Deluxe' (ultra-articulated) design in other Diamond properties beyond Buffy and Angel, such as Stargate?

*** Yes we do see branching it off but nothing specific planned right now.



Is the army builder performing well for Stargate, can we get one for Buffy (of Turok Han's for example)?

*** Anything is possible and Turok Han is a good choice but "army building" sales have been lackluster so far, but we keep trying.



Why are your action figure lines different scales? We know the Buffy line was matched to the MAC scale but why aren't the rest of your lines the same scale as one another? The Stargate figures tower over the Buffy figures and the Star Trek figures tower over the Stargate figures. What goes into determining the scale for a line? Is it what the licensee wants? Something else?

*** In both the Buffy, and Trek cases we had to take over for existing license holders, DST preferred scale is 7"



in the Buffy / angel magazine issue #87 it was said they you will be making a line of season one angel figures , will this still go a head ? and do you have any more information about it ?

*** That information is not accurate, we do not currently have plans for such a line/



Will you make a sword to go with Puppet Angel?

*** We've looked into it and talked about it on and off but nothing has come of it yet - just too costly.



How about giving us a Judge that comes in pieces in a wave?

*** We'd have to see if something like that is possible BUT if we ever did it Judge would make the most sense, wouldn't he?



Have you considered doing a mail in for a figure like you did for the Stargate line?

*** We talked about it but nothing has presented itself yet BUT you never know...



Now that Stargate has been cancelled...will you continue making figures for it?

*** Please refer Gate questions though Gateworld BUT no it was not canceled, it was just not renewed and they already green lit two DVD movies. Besides we did all our Buffy work after that went off the air...


Will your Star Trek license include the upcoming movie?

*** Please use the AA forum for Trek questions BUT no we do not currently have rights to the next movie.



Will DST be making the plush stake that palisades had originally planned? How about the Gentleman Voice Box?

*** Those arenot currently in our plans.



Wood totally needs a suit and then a battle ready version. Why only one variant?

*** Just one for now based on the character and figures popularity we could always do more!



What's the likelihood of there being another playset being produced?

*** Sorry to say slim.



Is the Giles/Faith line still on track for a November/December release?

*** Yes



Can you at least leak how many figures of each we will get or what the variants of the Drusilla/Oz/Wood line?

***The core case has Oz & Dru and Dru is also the short pack.





Will there be any holiday exclusives this year?

*** YES but not a Buffy related promotion.



Will the only prop that comes out this year be the Urn of Osiris?

*** Yes I think so as well as the Spike Puppet. (though its not an actual prop)



Any news on Faith's Jackal Knife?

*** Nope nothing new



Will there only be one Deluxe line next year?

*** There will be at least the Willow /Kennedy line next summer - that might be it.



With a Spike Puppet coming out, are you planning on making a Vampire Spike Puppet?

*** Not currently, but you never know.



Have you ever thought about making "The Wish" Buffy figure?

*** MANY times.



Are the accessory packs still planned to be released in October?

*** They will be closer to end of year now.



Ever thought about making smaller playsets and seeing how that works? Examples would be Oz's cage, Part of the cemetery, part of Spike's Crypt, part of Angel's mansion, etc.

*** Yes we talked about it - just not sure how they will sell and they would have to carry a pretty high SRP and might not be the best "value"



How are the snow globe and bookend coming along?

***Snow globe is now 100% approved!



Will there be a second wave of X-Men: the last stand minimates?

*** Please refer MM questions to AA forum BUT no, just one wave planned as of now

Questions for Ask #46:

--Like the Serenity River statue, will you ever consider producing statues based on Buffy/Angel characters who may not sell so well in figure form?

--Similarly, if the River statue sells well, would it be possible to use the sculpt and turn it into an action figure, maybe as a convention exclusive or something?

--Since more playsets are unlikely and the wall bases will be the closest we get, do buildings like the Hyperion Hotel, more specifically the main lobby, ever stand a chance of becoming bases? Or would it's odd shape not translate well enough to do so?

--Like the wall bases, will you ever consider making 'corner' piece bases, so that all bases could be assembled into a room of sorts?

Being not such a huge Star Trek/Stargate fan this wasn't such a neat Q&A but I'm glad to see the Faith & Giles are still on schedule, and that the snow-globe is finally approved.

For the most part, not exactly thrilling news. But on the plus side - the Giles/Faith wave's arrival seems very much to be imminent.

I liked their answer to the Wish Buffy. I REALLY want a figure of her, the Gift Buffy, and Becoming Buffy and Angel. I was really surprised they didn't make any of them.

I alos like their Yes for the Faith/Giles line.

I also agree with Lior about too many Stargate and Trek questions.

Thanks DST.

Not great news. Only deluxe Willow, Kennedy and Kendra next year? I was hoping for at least one other deluxe wave. If DST see the deluxe as being the long term "future" of the line, then surely they need to put out more than one wave a year? It also sounds like Deluxe Series 3 is running a little later than planned, or is May summertime in the US?

Many times before I've stopped collecting lines because the releases were too far apart to be bothered (eg it was difficult to maintain interest).

Also, very disappointing about the playsets. I would also hope since future playsets have been ruled out, they would start making the "bases" for the figures inter-connected and a little more generic (eg ALL Angel figures, regardless of the episode/season come with Hyperion Hotel and ALL Buffy figures regardless of the episode/season come with the Magic Box).

Other than that, nothing of any real interest. I'll have to see it to believe it with respect to the Giles/Faith release. The Xander/Cordelia wave hasn't even arraived down under yet (with the exception of Princess Cordelia for some odd reason).

Other Questions for Ask DST#46

Who has the exclusives for Faith and Giles?

Can we expect anymore Buffy/Angel 6" statues, or is that line dead?

Will Any other Joyce Figures be made?

Any news on initiative Xander?

Dark Horse announced a PVC figure and ship set from Serenity/Firefly. And another company announced a replica pistol of Mal's gun. What actual licenses does Diamond actually have for this property?

I agree that it's really sad that there will be no more playsets. I guess it shouldn't be a huge shock, since the show has been off the air for so long. I guess sales are disappointing for the library. Damn.

Also bad news that the accessory pack's release is delayed. I hope that Faith and Giles stay on target for December.

I'm glad that they answered some important questions. As for the answers:

Too bad for no Gwen Raiden, I would've loved to see her as a figure.

It would be nice to have Deluxe "Chosen" Figures of all of the characters, after all everyone was in on the action.

I really hope that they consider army builders of Turok Han, that would make an amazing display.

I don't understand what happened to the whole Team Angel figures, although it might have just been misinterpreted.

I understand that a sword for Puppet Angel would be expensive, but I'd probably buy it.

I'd love to see a Judge figure to assemble from buying figures, it would be nice if it was a surprise with the Drusilla/Oz/Wood line.

A mail in figure would be nice as well, I'd love to get a "The Wish" Buffy that way.

Too bad that the plush and Gentlemen Box aren't in their plans.

I hope that the "Chosen" Wood figure sells enough to warrant a "Lessons" Suit Wood figure.

Too bad no more playsets, I was really looking forward to more.

They say that the Giles/Faith line are still on track for November/December, which is amazing news. Yet we still haven't heard the rest of the exclusive holders.

So we know what we knew already about the Oz/Dru line that Oz would have 1 figure of the main core and Drusilla would have the shortpack. That was already announced. I really wish that they would've told us more.

I really wanted another Buffy holiday figure, but does that mean no Angel holiday figure as they just said "no Buffy"

So we will get the Urn of Osiris and the Spike Puppet before the year is up, which is good in a way because this year has been an expensive one.

It's sad that there is no news on Faith's Jackal Knife, I want to know what the retail will be.

So the Willow/Kennedy/Kendra Deluxe line might be the only Deluxe line but they didn't say that it would. I'm hoping for another one later in the year.

If they do happen to make a Vampire Spike Puppet, I just hope that he looks good.

So "The Wish" Buffy figure has been considered, I say that she should be thrown in one of the lines somewhere. I'd buy her, maybe even two of her.

It'd be nice to get the accessory packs and the Giles/Faith line at the same time.

I'd love to have small playsets even if the retail is $30-$40. If they look amazing they will be well worth it.

With the snowglobe 100% approved, I am surprised that they didn't have a picture to show us. Hopefully we will see it at the next show.

Not much news at all.

I'm suprised with the comment about the deluxe figures- i thought that that was what we were mainly getting from now on?? Strange. At least giles/faith are on track (which should surely mean pics of the oz/dru wave are not far off right? ).


edit: Being a MOCer, i'd hate it if the judge was only available in pieces (like the palz one). Unless they sold him complete as well?
And i wonder if a mail in figure would be available to non-us collectors? I doubt it.

I gotta say that it just feels like the line is dying. Only one deluxe release for all of next year? First it was May of 2007 (which is very far off) now it's summer? That could mean August. It just seems like the figures being delayed more and more often and for longer periods of time is a sign that the Buffy figures are fizzling. I think Diamond's lack of quality and attention to detail has really hurt them. The scale problems, the stubby necks, the constant reuse, etc. Sad to see them go but I won't be surprised if they do.

Well. I'm annoyed with the playset! Have they ever thought that maybe the Library just wasn't everybodys favourite choise of favourite. I didn't buy a playset because i would much rather disply the newer season figures with the magic box.

For Next AD- Some fans would have prefered a MAgic Box playset rather than the library. What do you have to say to that? ..Or something like that :)
