 NEW Ask Diamond #37
« Thread Started on Feb 17, 2006, 6:36pm »

Here's Ask Diamond #37...

Is it possible to ever see more figures from "The Wish"?

Ever is a very long time - so maybe...

Is it even possible to see Puppet Angel, Battle Damaged Puppet Angel and Vampire Puppet Angel in scale with the 6" figures?

That is not currently possible with the licenses we have, so it's a pretty slim chance.

How much longer till the Library?

Still looking like May.

Is there ever the possibility of getting potentials in the future?

Sure.

If Palisades Toys truly decides to discontinue their Buffy PALZ and long awaited Angel PALZ lines, would DST pursue the license to manufacture "mini-figures" of the BTVS universe? If so, would DST make an effort to continue the Palisades PALZ line (starting with Series 3 and continue the same design) or would the company start over with a Mini-Mates style line?

Palisades is no longer in business and DST has no interest in doing any mini-figure that are not Minimates, so if we were to consider ANY license, it would be to release it as Minimates.

We've heard rumors that no one has picked up Primeval Buffy yet as an exclusive. A lot of us really want this figure. Will we still be seeing her with the rest of the Buffy/Dawn wave?

Primeval Buffy will be released.

Since it is now official that Tara will be made into Bust form, will she get the same treatment as the figures, or will she have two completely different-sculpt busts?

We’re only planning on one Tara bust.

Will DST ever consider doing figures based off any of the comic stories?

That's not in our current license.

Will the deluxe line have any two packs?

We'll have to see. We're not opposed to that.

Will you reduce the size of the Boxset Dawn?

Dawn is taller than her sister and mother.

If Glory sells well will more Big Bads be released?

I suppose if sales blew us away we might re-look at our plans, but that's about what it would take.

What did you mean when you said that the bases of the Summer's Boxset would be part of Joyce's room and the Living Room?

The mask and wall paper are from Joyce’s room while the curtain and window look more like the living room. It’s an amalgam of the two rooms.

Which of the deluxe Angel and Spike figures (including variants) come with removable coats/alternate arms?

Destiny Angel, Destiny Spike, 50’s Angel and School Hard Spike will come with removable jackets and alternate arms.

Why weren't any of the deluxe Angel variants chosen to "match up" with existing deluxe action figures, for example, "Graduation Day" Angel or "End of Days" Angel to go with the deluxe Buffy figures?

We tried to make them match up as best we could in their own line, but I am sure your all creative enough to set up some nice 4 way scenes and imagine your own episodes and displays.

With respect to the "Angel" action figures in both the standard and deluxe range, there appears to be a lack of a "classic" styled/attired "human" Angel from seasons 1-3 of Buffy and season 1-4 of Angel (eg black pants, collared shirt and 3/4 length black coat). Was this deliberate on DST's part and if so, are there any plans to deliver a "classic" Angel action figure?

Seems classic is the eye of the beholder because I think some of our figures in both lines are very classic portrayals.

When will the deluxe angel and spike's be hitting the shelves?

Summer...just like last year's deluxe figures.

Could it be possible to consider angel/fred wave as a angel/illyria wave and make a new wave with fred/gunn

Nope. No plans for any of the above.

With Buffy, Angel, Star Trek, and Stargate licenses, is DST considering additional "cult TV" licenses? If so, any hints as to which properties DST would be interested in?

Nothing on the front burner right now, but you never know what will present itself.

What show will the next line be from-- Buffy or Angel?

Patience - but nice try. Maybe I'll tease it soon.

Will DST ever consider making a boxset with more than three characters in it, like MAC did? Maybe without jumping the price too much.

No plans right now to go past three figures.

As you have nearly released 100 Buffy/Angel figures, would consider making a special 100th Buffy figure?

Believe it or not the idea has been floated, but...we'll see.

Is there any news on the Buffy/Angel Snow globes and Bookends License that you have?

Both are now in the early stages of development.

If you have any more S7 buffy figures (e.g chosen giles), will the bases add to the corridor motive you have going?

We've considered that, we'll just have to see if the opportunity comes up.

What is the next line? If you can reveal that now?

Not this soon after all we showed at Toy Fair...

Will the new Xanders receive the bicep swivel joint?

If only to make all you fine folks happy, I'll consider it.

Wow, Great Ask Diamond CMK. I think Wish figs are on the burner for the future, which makes me happy :-)

Also, good to hear the potentials are a consideration.

Overall I think this is a very positive ask diamond!

Nice Ask Diamond, but again, they're being all cryptic. Nice to hear about the Snow Globes and the Library. But the news on Boxset Dawn doesn't exactly thrill me :( Thanks, though :)

Cool, an Ask Diamond so soon after the Toyfair news. How fun!

Lots of questions answered.

They've had their say about Dawn. They consider her taller than both Joyce and Buffy, so they aren't going to change her height. They probably have all of the measurements and are right. But Dawn didn't seem taller than Buffy until season 7. I'm basing this on no data at all.

Only one Tara bust.

Alternate arms for lots of deluxe figure.

Probably no other big bads as figures. That means probably no Adam or Caleb. Bummer. I wonder if that means no Drusilla? Probably.

It sounds like there might be a future Chosen Giles with a UC Sunnydale base. He was just cryptic enough and didn't say no, so I think that's a probably. If something won't happen, he usually says no outright. I hope it has lockers in the background!

It sucks that the Library playset isn't out till May! I preordered it back in the Fall. But I think the reason they're doing only one Tara bust is because she is going to complete the bridge with Willow which is way better than two random variant scupts. I know we saw a lot of cool stuff at Toy Fair but I'm still hungry for more info. :) Thanks DST & BtVS Figs Forum

Kinda unfortunate but that's not what I was envisioning anyways.

That was a really good Ask Diamond.

I'm glad to see that they said maybe to more figures from "The Wish", I really want Cleveland Slayer Buffy, Giles, White Dress Anya and Tortured Angel.

I really hope that it changes as far as the Puppet Angels go. I'd love to have a 3 pack of all 3 versions in the 6" scale.

Glad to see that the library is still looking like May, hopefully I"ll get it around my birthday.

Now they are saying sure to the possibility of potentials being made, I love that answer. It'd be really nice to get "Chosen" Anya, a few Bringers and Turok Han as well to create "Chosen".

It's a shame that they won't pick up PALZ.

I am so glad that we are definately getting Primeval Buffy, she is such a good figure.

As for the Tara Bust, as long as there is a Willow bust made to complete the pair, I"ll be happy.

With them not opposed to 2 packs for the Deluxe Line makes me extremely happy, I'd really love to see a "Becoming" 2 pack made with Buffy and Angel

I wish that they would change the size of Dawn, but oh well, I just won't display her on the base.

I hope that everyone buys "The Gift" 2 pack to allow us to get more Glory figures as well as more villians.

I'm glad that the arms are removeable to display School Hard Spike either with or without a jacket, although I will display him without his jacket as for the "Destiny" figures, as I will be getting both the normal and the chases I will be able to display one or the other without his jacket to make him look even more different than a little blood.

I can't wait until the Deluxes come out in the summer, it will be just like last Summer getting all of the Deluxes at one time, unless a few are delayed by the exclusive holders.

It stinks that there are no plans for a Fred/Gunn wave, but I am still hoping that there is a Fred wave sometime in the future, she really needs better figures.

I am excited that they tossed the idea of a special 100th figure around, I just hope that it is a really good one.

Still early development for the Globes and Bookends, well hopefully something comes out next year.

I really am hoping that the next line includes Giles to continue with the bases to connect.ow?

I hope that we know the next line by the end of next month at least, seeing that Buffy/Dawn are due out in April.

I really think that it would be better for Xander to have the bicep articulation, it would make the figures better. Hopefully they will add this to the figures, they already look so amazing.

What is the difference between PALz and MiniMates? I know that they are different lines, but what is the difference in size and style? If DST did a MiniMates line of Buffy, would it possibly fit in with the PALz figures? If not, do people think it would at least have great diversity and quality like PALz?

Girl Power, The minmates are high quality figs too, just smaller, with a little less detail IMHO.

If we cant have the palz like they are, I would settlre for Mini mate style.

Great questions this time around too by the way :-)

Not as good as I hoped it would be. But still, thanks for the Q&A.

Too bad they consider Dawn as naturally high compared to Buffy and Joyce, especially when she was only 14 years old in the 5th season. ::)

I can't believe that they would do a Joyce figure before they'd do a Gunn figure. That's just crazy. Gunn was in the opening credits of Angel. Joyce was not in the opening credit of Buffy.

I know that DST is about money. They are a business and they have to be. However, it seems like more people would buy a one time Gunn figure in a three pack, then a Joyce or D'Hoffryn in a three-pack. He rounds out the official Fang Gang and is coveted just for that.

If they made all the big sellers first, then the line would've died after 3 waves...thats why we get variants and obscure characters that make sense at the time. Normally, we wouldnt get them at all...would you prefer that? Gunn will come, dont worry...but that doesnt mean that we cant get others along the way.
And he might even get a few variants...which is MUCH better than a one time box set piece. He deserves more than that.

Stop whining about everything and anything you possibly can. Its getting rather old.

WHat's getting old are the RUDE comments like yours FM. I don't see any whining whatsoever in GP's post - just a simple statement of her opinion of Joyce being made before Gunn, a major cast member, and the observation that many people have voiced an interest on this board for Gunn. That's hardly whining - in fact talking about the figures we want, etc is exactly what this board is for. Sliding in pointless and mean-spirited comments like yours is NOT. And your response is based on what exactly? You don't know what DST is going to do or not do, and as they have consistently implied Gunn would NOT be made, the only way to convince them otherwise is to keep showing them the demand is there, just as Girl Power did. And I don't see ANY comment in GP' post that she didn't want certain variants along the way, so your whole "would you prefer that?" question is based on nothing but your own apparent grouchy interpretation.
Hopefully you were having a bad day or something and didn't intend it to be as rude as it sounded - if so you really need to consider an apology. If not, then as I stated previously, the only things getting old and tiresome are the rude, nasty comments directed at other fans who absolutely DO NOT deserve them. So if you're really concerned about posts that people are tired of, do us all a favor and don't bother posting anymore slams or uncalled-for comments, and instead take that time to try to fix whatever is putting you in such a bad mood.

okay so no plan for fred/gunn wave but no to gunn or more fred, don't think that was mention...

as for joyce being released first is just because she was suiting well this wave since there's no other way we could have had her...but i do understand what you mean girl power and i'm sure next angel wave will have gunn :-*

Thank you, NewtonDKC.

Personal attacks aren't appropriate on this forum. This is a very respectful place, with only a few exceptions. It is the best quality about this board.

My comment is in direct regard to many previous Ask Diamonds that have stated that Gunn is not planned, as well as the inference in this Ask Diamond. Many of us on the board already know what Diamond has planned for the next year. Other rumors from DST are that no Gunn is planned at all.

I think that many of us are hoping that if we emphasize our desire for certain figures such as Gunn, DST will reconsider their stance on making the figures.

I stand by my confusion that DST is releasing Joyce, but not Gunn. I'm excited about the Joyce figure. I think the face sculpt is about the best one I've seen. I'm just surprised that DST thinks that Joyce will be more popular than Gunn would be. They have indicated a number of times that they don't think Gunn would sell. But many more board members have requested a Gunn figure than have requested Joyce.

I was hoping Gunn would be in the next wave, but that answer doesn't sound too good. Did they mean that there are no plans for Gunn, or that they are no plans for a gunn/fred wave? I sometimes don't understand their answers (but i guess they like to keep them cryptic so they don't give away too much info).

Thanks to CMK and DST for the Q&A.
