Ask Diamond #36:

Any plans for Mini Statues again?

We'd love to do more. They are just on the back burner right now, but we've got some great ideas.

If the two-pack with Glory does well, is there chance that you would go back and re-do her in her signature red dress?

It's pretty safe to say for any character that if demand is good, we'll make more products.

When will the variants for the Tara busts be announced?

Are you even sure we're going to do a second version?

Will DST make busts of Willow, Xander, and Giles?

Those are characters we would consider.

Nope.

Is there any chance of an Adam being released in the future? If not then will the MAC Adam sculpt ever be released as an ornament?

The MAC sculpt was never approved, so as it exists, it can't be released in any form.

If an Adam were ever to be released, would it be the MAC sculpt or would it be a new one?

See above.

Will their be any new Wesley and Lorne ornaments? The last ornament wave kind of missed them out.

We have not decided the 06 ornaments. Heck, I haven't even taken the decorations down from last month.

What about a Master bust or a Adam bust?

No plans for Adam anytime soon, and Master is one we've discussed but he's not in the schedule as of right now.

With DST apparently re-considering their stance on "battle damaged" figures with the recently announced details of the second "Deluxe" figure line featuring Spike and Angel, is there any possibility that this might also pave the way for a "battle damaged" Chosen Buffy figure?

It's not really a change of direction, It's more something that came along and really fit for Destiny Angel and Spike. Chosen Buffy could be another case for an exception, but we'll just have to see.

Is Cordelia being considered for the Deluxe line, if not a two pack, box set, and/or convention exclusive?

Considered, but she's not on the list we're working on right now.

Speaking of the Deluxe line, would Willow be considered for this line?

All the core characters will at least be considered.

Will any of the newly announced amazing box sets/2-packs include accessories?

Yes.

What are all of the release dates they have so far i.e. the regular series 5/3, the boxset, and the two 2 packs?

We can't announce any dates until the partners are lined up. When we do, it will be in their press releases.

When will we see pictures of Cordelia, Xander, Joyce, Buffy vs. Drac, any surprises?

Should be around Toy Fair time if all goes according to schedule.

Is there anything about the library playset that is being kept a secret?

Not that I can think of. If you mean something like an exclusive figure - no there isn't an exclusive figure.

Who are the exclusive holders for the boxset, and the two 2 packs?

We're not free to say yet because all the PO's are not in.

How do you expect to top the Buffy/Dawn line?

Umm, I guess that means you really like that wave? To be honest, we hope to make each wave better and that's our intention. We keep learning more and more as we go, so we hope each wave is better.

I know you said that there was no redoing any of mac figures, but you redid bunny Anya, right?

I wouldn't say we redid it...I would say we improved upon it :) Cut me some slack guys, ok?

Is there any way you can tell how a product has done even before they are released? Can't you check pre-orders to see how much have been sold?

Not really. We'll get some feedback from our partners on pre-orders, but most of our stuff sells best when people can see it.

Which figure out of the Buffy/Dawn line are you most proud of?

We're all a team here and I think each of us likes different figures. I like Vampire Buffy, because that's one I always wanted to do and Fox and Sarah finally said OK. So for that reason I am proudest of it.

Matt: Prom Buffy just nails the likeness, but I'm most proud of the Joyce figure since I didn't think it would ever happen.

How far are you guys willing to take the buffy/angel figure line?

How long are you guys willing to spend your hard earned money on it?

Is it possible, maybe as a con exclusive, DST could release a "Primeval" Buffy with non glowy eyes?

Not in the plans yet for something like that, but to be honest, you never know what we'll think of at the last minute.

With the upcoming release of Deluxe Series 2 Spike and Angel is there any possibility of any "Deluxe" two-packs or boxed sets of "deluxe" figures?

Not yet, but we'll get to the point soon of at least being able to try something like that.

With more and more figures of major characters coming out, is the possibility for a Harmony figure getting better and better?

Nope.

Is there any plans for 2-packs with the Cordy/Xan line??? Possibly a Hells Bells with Xander and then Buffy and Halfrek or Tara, considering we already have Anya?

None of those are being considered at this time. Sorry.

When will you announce the next line of figures?

We hope around Toy Fair.

Will Cheerleader Buffy come with two pom-poms, or one?

Two. Who would be crazy enough to just do one? Ever see a cheerleader with one pom-pom?

Meh... I kind of am confused his comment about Tara, as if they are saying she'll only get one... but we don't even know what the one will be yet? I wish he could have told us at least something about the busts.

The rest is good, a few iffy comments here and there... They are teasing us XD I wanna see Joyce!

Great Ask! It seems that Diamond are getting more and more concise with their answers each and every time.

Right now, I can't wait until Toyfare. It looks that not only will we be seeing pictures of the new Joyce and BVD Buffy, but also they will be revealing the next line of figures. I can't wait!

Lovin' the answer to the Cheerleader Buffy question. In answer to Diamond: Only MAC would be crazy enough :)

Thanks for the Q&A Flobbster. :)

I'm happy they answered a few questions I've been dieing to know (especially when we would see prototypes of Joyce and the 7th Buffy figure) but the general feeling of DST answerers is that they avoid quite a lot of questions. :-/

I really think Tara needs (deserves) 2 busts, i mean... if Oz got 2, why wouldn't she? i know Oz was in the credits, but Tara is just as (if not more) populair. So yeah, i'm just hoping that they are teasing us by saying this, or are just trying to avoid the question. (not that i wouldn't be happy with one, but 2 = better)

Great Ask Diamond. I think that they were just kidding about Tara not getting 2 Busts as they said before that they plan on releasing the characters with 2 versions in a previous Ask Diamond.

I can't wait to see pics of the Xander, Cordy, Joyce and Buffy Vs Dracula figures and I can't wait for the next line to be announced. I hope that it is either from Buffy- Giles(5)/Riley(3), or from Angel-Faith(5)/Gunn(3). I'm also hoping that there will be a show exclusive that they will make of battle damaged "Chosen" Buffy.

As for Toyfair, when is it?

I hope that we do see another Glory figure or 2, I really liked her as a villian and would love to see a figure with a red dress and a figure with her ceremonial garb.

As for the Busts they didn't say no to an Adam Bust, they just said not any time soon and as for The Master, being one that they thought of making, I'd love to see one.
Sad to hear about the Harmony figure, I really wanted one.

As for the Deluxe Figures, at least Cordy is considered I really wonder who they will pick next. A Deluxe 2 pack or boxset sounds very likely, I'd love to see a Deluxe "Becoming" 2 pack with Buffy and Angel.

My next questions that I want to ask them are:

Is it possible to ever see more figures from "The Wish"?
We already have Vampire Willow and Anyanka and are getting Vampire Xander and Cordelia and we are even getting a Library playset.
I'd love to see Cleveland Slayer Buffy, Tortured Angel, and a redone The Master, maybe even Giles and Oz from that episode.

Is it even possible to see Puppet Angel, Battle Damaged Puppet Angel and Vampire Puppet Angel in scale with the 6" figures?
As for me I'd buy them in a 3 pack set or in a bookset with Angel from that episode as well.

Is it possible to ever see figures of Caleb, The Judge, The Mayor, Adam (with a new sculpt of course) and even a Clem figure?
They were really important villians among the series and figures would be amazing, they would really work with 2 packs with other main figures.

Is Riley a possibility?
He was a major character and part of the credits and Scooby Gang in Season 4 and part of 5, he would also be excellent to have a 2 pack with Adam or a boxset with Adam and another version of Buffy.

Is Gunn a possibility yet?
He was a very important character in Angel and was there for all 5 seasons.

Is there a possibility of seeing more demon figures and a villian or 2 made from Angel?
I'd love to see Skip, The Beast, Jasmine, Sahjan, and Cyrus Vail.

I gave up on asking the Kendra question as that will probably never happen, and neither will a Jenny or Doyle figure.

That's great news about Glory. It sounds like it's VERY possible we will get her in the red dress.

As for the Harmony figure, I think that could be a trick answer.

The question was:
"is the possibility for a Harmony figure getting better and better?"
The answer was "Nope."

If they are already planning a Harmony figure, then the possibility wouldn't get any better, right?

Maybe it's just wishful thinking. But I thought that if they were trying to get a scan of Mercedes McNab, then there is a good possibility we will get a Harmony figure. Why waste their time and money on new scans right now when they have their figures planned out so far in advance. I'm not giving up hope on a Harmony figure yet.

And, yes, does anyone know when Toyfare is? I'm so excited about it!

It sounds to me like, since MAC already had an Adam figure, but it was never approved, DST can't ever do one because it was something MAC created but never pushed. So do you think this means no Adam, ever. But we did get D'Hofrryn.
Yay! All of my questions were answered- the pom poms, the library secrets, the bunny anya, all of them. I especially liked how my question about which figure they were most proud of was answered. Matt said Joyce so that makes me real anxious to see joyce.

Questions for Ask Diamond #37-
1) What are the accessories planned for Xander/Cordelia?
2) Are there any exclusive accessories for the Summers Boxset?
3) Is there anything new that we aren't being told about the Buffy/Dawn wave? Such as another boxset or two pack or exclusive figure?
4) You sometimes bring figures back to do two-packs, such as Willow-Tara, Buffy-Angel, is there any chance you'll bring Angel into a two pack with Cordy, Or Anya with Xander, or a Buddies Boxset with Xander, Buffy, Willow?
5) Even though they were together for such a short while, will xander/cordy ever have a two pack, maybe from "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered"?
6) What are your plans after the core characters are made into 6'' figures? Will you move on and do variants of lesser figures. I can see varients of Kendra, Amy, etc.
7) Any possiblity of getting generic figures? Or Vamps?
8) Next playset?
9) Is there any chance in the future, that DST will go back and do the other half of the library? Maybe add oz's cage, or giles office?
10) If there are future playsets would you continue to only make half of the actually playset or would you do the full thing.

Well, these are just some, I'm sure my brain will twist with other ideas.

Question for next Ask Diamond:
Is it save to say that one of the Tara busts (if you will make 2) will be from Once More With Feeling?

I know they might not reply to this yet, but seeing as it's for next months Ask Diamond, you never know..

While most fo their answers gave more details than usual, i still don't get their adam answer. Were they implying that they would have to make him themselves ie do an original sculpt? Or were they saying they can never do him? I hate cryptic answers (or am i just really slow?).

What they were saying about the Adam sculpt was that it was never approved by Fox. So they don't have the rights to make a figure or ornament from the sculpt that MAC had done. They didn't say that they couldn't sculpt a new Adam and then release him as an ornament.

I just looked it up and the Toy Fair 2006 Date is February 12-15, 2006. I really wish that I could go, I even live in New York and all, I just don't have anyone to go with and I don't have the time to go.

so does the Harmony question mean they dont plan on making her, ever...

How much longer till the Library?
Will the regulare releases, exclusives, 2-packs and boxset be released around the same time or spread out, for the Buffy/Dawn line?
Why is Diamond against releasing an Angel themed 2-pack or boxset, they always say no, but why, do they think it wont sell?

Only three weeks until we get to see the pictures of Cordelia, Xander, Joyce, Buffy vs. Drac!!!!

I hope that they stay on schedule. It wouldbe fun just to see the Xander and Cordy pictures.

Sounds good for deleux boxsets or two packs hopefully Becomming angel, buffy and kendra.
shame about Adam but maybe they could make a new sculpt some day, I think the whole harmony thing sounds a bit suss because DST know alot of us want her

my question for the next ask are-
1. You said no u.k stores will get unsigned LOTP lornes, how about signed lornes or will you have a load to sale at a convention like red dress darla?
2.do you have plans for a Gift Buffy, we need her to go with Glory and dawn because in my opinon this is the most important buffy of all?

Is there ever the possibility of getting potentials in the future? Such as the core ones, Kennedy, Vi, Rona, Amanda, I can't remember the chinese slayer's name, Molly, Maybe eve or chloe, or Annabelle or Caridad. I think these potentials might have some real potential. (Pun intended). This is just my opinion though. I know I would buy them all. :)

Bummer - no chance of DST getting those Life Of The Party Lorne's to the uk. I've given up all hope now of getting him.

Good Ask Diamond I thought - I think the future looks good for Buffy/Angel items.
Can't wait to see what the Tara bust looks like ;D
