Here's Ask Diamond #34! :)

How long do you have the Buffy and Angel licenses and do you plan to renew?

Sorry. DST does not give that type of information out, but I will say as long as this stuff sells, we want to keep doing it.

Could you tell us who you have scans off, you mentioned it a little while ago at a convention but that, like I said, was a while ago?

Buffy, Angel, Fred/Illyria, Gunn, Wesley, Spike, Tara, Dawn, Anya, Glory, and Darla. We're also working on scanning two more people, and could use scans from Serenity as well.

Does this mean there will be more deluxe figures after Angel and Spike?

Sales on Angel and Spike will decide that, but we have another wave planned and ready to go if needed.

After the scale issue with the latest Angel and Fred/Illyria wave, were you able to ensure that Buffy and Dawn will be in scale with the other Buffy figures?

We always do all we can. It's just sometimes difficult to communicate issues with sculptors, casters, factories etc.

Do you know approximately when the Buffy/Dawn wave will ship? Why was it delayed?

Spring. The delay was with all the versions of Buffy and Dawn going at once. A couple look a little longer to approve than expected.

When can we expect the Library Playset?

Spring as well.

Do you have any plans for an Angel boxed set?

We don't really decide the waves and sets like that, but no, there are no boxed sets planned right now themed around Angel episodes.

Will the "Pylean Princess" Cordelia variant be in her "blue" or "gold" outfit or other?

I think we'll wait for the photos. You guys are getting too clever. [CMK: If you look at the pictures DST provided in their announcement of the Xander/Cordelia exclusives, Princess Cordelia is wearing her blue outfit.]

Will the "You're Welcome" Cordelia variant be in her "beige/cream" or "grey/silver" outfit or other?

Come on now...you guys want me to ruin all the surprises? [CMK: Again, if you look at the pictures, You're Welcome Cordelia is wearing her grey/silver outfit.]

Will the "The Wish" Cordelia feature fully articulated/sculpted legs under a soft rubber skirt (like Anyanka and the to be released Buffybot) or will the skirt and legs be sculpted as one piece (like Anya and Tara)?

DST did not sculpt Anya or Tara.

Will a Kendra figure ever be a possibility? Giles? Gunn? Harmony?

Some of those might be in the distant future and some are not. One of those is being sculpted now.

Any new signed or promo figures planned for the future?

Fans seem to like them, so we'll do them when we can.

Hope they are sculpting Kendra(trought she is prbably the one that will not be made in that liste...)...but it is probably Giles, to go with the new buffy,willow and xander, and I'm sure one of the two people scan they want is one of Mercedes Mcnable(spelling!)

Looks like there is hope for Gunn after all, which is good news for us Angel fans. :D

^^ well, that is good news. Along with the Cordelia's we are getting. I am upset abou the delay, and how flimsy they are dealing with it, like the fans are just going wait...

Edit:

"Will Cordelia be tossed into any box sets or 2-packs, giving us more then 3?"

"If the new Buffy figures hit strong, is there a chance another set of 5 Buffy could be made? Maybe even from an Angel episode?"

Great news!! My bet is that the one they are sculpting now is either Giles or Gunn. I think that they will wait a little longer to release Harmony and by then they probably plan on having a scan of her to use. I'm hoping that the next wave after Xander/Cordy will be buffy based, but with one of those being sculpted now I'm thinking that it might be an angel wave with Gunn. If not then I'm hoping for Giles and Riley!!!

I believe they are simply saying that they could use the Adam Baldwin scan for a Hamilton, or a Nathan Fillion for Caleb if they chose to make those.

I'm kind of surprised Giles isn't listed in the scans, I'm pretty sure Gentle Giant has one of him that was used for the head sculpt of the figure as well as in the video game. Maybe I'm wrong though. As for who they are trying to get scans from, I really hope Eliza is one of them!

I am right there with you. They need a scan of her so we could get some new figures with a better likeness in the regular 6" line.

This "Ask Diamond" sounds encouraging. Even though we're having to wait a little bit on the Buffy/Dawn wave and the library playset, I see it as the nature of the beast. In this business, I'd rather wait a few extra months than have a poorly made figure that I don't even want.

I hope Gunn is the figure they're working on right now. It just seems the next logical choice for the Angel line. If they use the Serenity scans to make a Hamilton and a Caleb, that'll be super sweet.

Not the best Q&A but still quite helpful. At least DST confirmed a few issues we talked about earlier (like the delay, the scales and the outfits).

However, I'm still wondering what went wrong with some of the ornaments? :-/

Some interesting news. Apologies for the rather obvious Cordelia variant questions, someone answered these for me in another thread and I didn't think to delete them from the "Ask Diamond" thread.

GREAT news about a third series of deluxe figures being planned. Hopefully if Spike and Angel do well, they'll be able to release the third series sooner rather than later.

I'm not sure what to make of their comment re Anya and Tara's legs. I can only presume that it is their way of saying that all the figures they've sculpted have fully articulated legs, so "The Wish" Cordelia will have fully articulated/sculpted legs under her skirt (which is good news in order to create a shorter skirt version of Cordelia).

And of course the BIG news - Giles, Harmony, Kendra or Gunn. Who is it?

I REALLY hope that it is Gunn. He's the only one we need to complete the Fang Gang (at least the "core" fang gang because could also use Connor, a new Fred, Lilah and Lindsey etc).

I'd say its between Giles and Gunn and as Gunn has a scan, I'm leaning towards him. Plus simple and easy variants (street wear with bandana, Pylea aka "regular" and business suit).

Not a question for DST, but when is "Spring" in the US (sometimes I wish DST wouldn't answer their questions on such an obvious "US" basis)?

Some good stuff in this Ask DST. :)

Spring in the US depends where you live, I guess, but mostly it's around March, April, and May.

I'm hoping the figure they're working on is Gunn. And it sounds promising when they said they could use serenity scans. I wonder if we'd get a Jasmine, cos even thou they haven't made a zoe figure, in the serenity magazine Gina Torres was saying how she was getting an action figure. Makes me think they've scanned her???

Haephestus- i know what you mean when they say stuff like "spring"- i automatically think the end of next year. I hate having to work out which months are in what season, and then reverse it. Can't they just say a month?


DL- i doubt smg would ever sign figures. After all she's the only actor who never signed a inkworks card.
