Here's Ask Diamond #30, guys! :)

Can/will any of the Buffy figures come with either of Buffy's weapon trunks as an accessory? Or would the cost be prohibitive, because unlike Wesley, the Buffy figures are already coming with a base/stand?

Sorry, but none of the Buffy's come with a weapons trunk.

When will DST announce the line-up for the next series of figures? ...When the Angel/Illyria wave is released?

Yes, that is correct and follows our marketing template, so it will be VERY soon.

When will the accessories for the Buffy/Dawn line be announced?

Sometime shortly after we announce the wave of figures after Buffy/Dawn.

Is there any upcoming need for DST to offer an exclusive figure?

Do you mean something like the Vampire Darla? If so, then no. We toss the idea around once in a while, but nothing is planned for sure yet.

Will future deluxe figures have holes in their feet for pegs?

Right now we are thinking no. BUT we are thinking about it due to some request we have gotten from fans. Our thinking behind "no" was that they did not come with bases so how big do we make the holes?

Do you plan to include InkWorks cards in future figures (like the Anya/Tara line) or was that just a one shot thing?

We also included one with Spike/Darla, but Angel/Fred will not have a card.

Was there ever a prototype of the Judge made?

Not to the best of my knowledge.

Has DST considered releasing repaints of previously released figures AFTER their initial line has come and gone? In a box set, as an exclusive, or whatever?

If we ever need a figure in our library we could go back, but if we did we would only do so if we made SOME change to it. There are no plans right now to do that though.

I am dying to know if there are any possibilities to making a Fred, even as a repaint/head swap from "Shells" Illyria...

Right now the only Fred's are the ones you have seen already.

Is there going to be an exclusive figure with the library, or is it just accessories?

No exclusive figure.

Is it a safe bet to assume that Gunn will be in the next wave of Angel figures?

NO...it's not a safe bet at all. Gunn is not in our near future plans.

I know I'm dreaming here but is there any chance that DST could get the Smallville license for figures since DC doesn't seem to be using it?

No, we will not be picking up any DC licenses.

How good are the chances for an Angel-themed playset in 2006?

The library would have to sell WAY better than current projections.

When picking variant figures of a character, does DST consider what other figures they have produced from certain episodes?

Yes, we try to whenever possible, but sometimes its just not practical or realistically possible.

My last question is after Cordy/xander/Giles/Harmony/Dru/Gunn/Faith/Riley... That's 4 more waves, what will happen after that????

Umm...the list you gave is not correct for the next four waves and we would never announce anything this far ahead anyway.

This line is going to get very different after the release of Buffy/Dawn. We only have 5 core characters left and a few important/minor characters. Will we see a bunch of lower supporting characters or demons?

Is it going to be very different? I didn't know that, maybe I better check and see if I missed something...nope, I didn't.

What happen to the T1 Jayne figure that was suppose to be for sale at this years SDCC?

Universal requested we hold the figure at least until the movie has a chance to open at the box office.

When will you announce the exclusive holders for the Buffy & Dawn line?

We should be ready to roll out images and everything in October.

Is there an official release date for the Buffy busts?

Dracula bust should be in stores this month as scheduled.

There is no set time frame on that/ It depends on when the partners commit to it and when they would like it in stores.

No idea. It will depend on when everyone is available.

Will the deluxe Angel and Spike figures come with interchangeable/additional "heads" as an accessory for "Vampire"/"Non-vampire" flexibility?

No, sorry. We have no plans to ever offer a vampire head as a swap accesory.

Will the deluxe Angel and Spike figures share the same body mould/sculpt (as did Buffy and Faith), or will they each have their own individual body mould/sculpt?

They share many of the same parts.

When/if appropriate.

Wow! Summer of 2006 for the next deluxes. I hope that cures everybody's foul mood about having a new Spike and Angel so soon after the current ones we have/are getting now.

Nothing great.

They're really being hard on Gunn, BUT I'm trying to keep in mind that they were equally harsh about Dawn and she ended up being in DST's first wave of "original" figures (with the exception of Spike, but he came with MAC's Darla).

I honestly cannot see who they would put into an Angel series ahead of Cordelia and Gunn?

I hope that IF a second series of Serenity figures happens they go with Gentle Giant. And that they re-do Mal and Jayne somehow (maybe a boxed set with new heads).

That was kind of dissappointing. I really want a Gunn figure and I think it is ridiculous that they find him so unimportant.

He (the person answering) seemed rather ticked off from the questions, and gave really direct and almost prissy answer like he really didn't care.

Seemed like he was having a bad day or something, and it felt like he just didn't have the time for the fans o.o

Hopefully Buffys trunk will come with a boxset or something.
So is the next series from Buffy or Angel? They say that they won't announce the next figures after Angel and Fred until after their release, yet they won't announce the accessories for Buffy and Dawn until after they announce the line after them.
Notice how they said RIGHT NOW the only Freds that exist are the ones that we have seen already, but didn't say that they wouldn't be making more Freds in a boxset or anything.
Also, they said that Gunn is not in the near future, but this time they didn't say that he wasn't in the future at all.
It's kind of disapointing that Deluxe Angel and Deluxe Spike won't be out until next summer, does this mean that if there is another wave out after DX Angel/DX Spike, it won't be out until Summer 07'.

Your not always thinking with your head are you? I'm guessing a diffrent body part is doing the thinking at the moment.

I think for J. August Richards it would be a real insult to him. He was on Angel for well, every season (but about 4 since he didn't come til the end of season 1) and really has done so much for the show. It would be like not giving Giles a figure, or never giving Cordelia a figure.
Since pretty much him and Cordelia were on it for the same amount of time. Yet, Cordelia seems to have a better chance at getting a figure? Why? (I'm not gunna say its because she is a skinny white girl, but I think DST may think a pretty white girl may sell over a black man)

As with anything a company releases, they have to make MONEY. Cordelia was a very popular characters, and obviously a core character on both Buffy/Angel. She WILL sell. Dawn, while she wasn't the most important character (hence only 3 figures), she was a core character in Season 5, and the sister of Buffy.

Gunn will be tough to sell. While he was on Angel as long as Cordelia, and longer then Lorne, Darla....he just wasn't that popular. He was often the most forgettable character with very few storylines. He was the 'muscle' and it obviously shows. Now, how many variants of Gunn can you think of? Street Gunn, Lawyer Gunn, uhh....? Ok. So lets say 3 variants. Besides huge fans like us, who will buy this figure? These have to appeal to not only HUGE fans like us, but casual fans.

A casual fan WILL pickup a Dawn. They will get a Darla. Gotta have that weird Green Demon Lorne. But...Oh wait, a Black guy in street clothes? Was casual fan wants to display that on their desk at work? Thats the point. These have to sell to CASUAL fans, not just us HARDCORE-buy anything fans.

As per the answers..yes, the responses seemed a bit rude, but don't continue to bash him. If so, we may never get these answers again; and we all love them!

My bet for the next wave of figures is going to be one of the three (If not two) of Cordelia, Xander, Giles. As per secondary characters I can see Faith, Oz....well, thats it. With the news of Harmony not coming, and Gunn being not even considered...Im not even sure.

Why on earth do think gunn wont appeal to buyers? I mean have they even looked at this forum? I think everyone would like Gunn to be next (even if he only gets 3 figures). Grrr.

Again, they are not going to spend tons of money to appeal to a few hundred fans (if even that many on this board that want him so bad). How much do you think goes into making each figure? Each sculpt, each accessory? Wasn't it a few 'Asks' back that they claimed they needed to sell 2,500 of each figure to even break EVEN? Do you know 2,500 Gunn fans willing to buy all the variants Doubtful.
