That base... that base... Oh my God, that base.
Where do I begin? The figure is brilliant, as usual, but please talk us through the making of the base.

From the neck down it reminds me of Jill Valentine from Resident Evil. The base is freakishly detailed and it's very Buffyverse.
Where do you find the time to do all this detailing?

Ha, thanks guys and yes Elee, lots borrowed from Jill Valentine figure! The base started life as a resin wall that broke about half way down. I repaired it with sculpey all over but there was still a slant on the top section so I decided to cut a chunk out and added the grill. Then I experimented with shining a light up and drilled a hole back in the base, but there were still lots of hairline cracks which diffused all the light away. I had to block it off. That's when I started gathering any spare creature arms, hands, rats, skulls and started gluing them on strategically, it worked. The light was blocked out and shone up through the grill - yay! I painted everything black, then dry brushed all over with grey, beige, white and sprinkled some grit in the crevices. The Buffy logo was made from a cast in sculpey from a bobble head Buffy stand and painted in to match. I'll post more pics soon with lights on and SFPD Spike!!?!!

Cooooooooooool!!!! As much as I love the figure I think the base tops the figure itself! But that may just be because I haven't read most of the comics yet I love the base so much. I like how you use lights in a lot of your work! It makes it very serene and almost... atmospheric? I think this set is totally amazing!! p.s. you can come to my house... we have lots of broken things for you to make into something much better haha! x

Looks awesome. Not enough light I think. Maybe an overhead light or a light pole. Spike kind of has a weird stance a long sword and crossed arms.

Looks awesome. Not enough light I think. Maybe an overhead light or a light pole. Spike kind of has a weird stance a long sword and crossed arms. Kind of like in Chosen - when he looks over the edge and sees how many Ubervamps are there? It was deliberate, he does this pose quite a lot when he's insecure!! The stance is also meant. If you look at the figure from above he is peering over the edge. It doesn't show as well as I'd like through my phone camera- the perspective goes a bit awry!!

Another outstanding piece of art! Poses of both are fabulous, LOVE Buffys hair, great paintjob as usual! Love the Spike body, also the base is spot on, and the light up effect sets them perfectly in scene! The claws around the base adds a lot, I really can see this scene in my head right now.

Lol, this custom should be very expensive, I mean thats a Jill valentine lower part, that figure is way to expensive right now, great use of parts and paintjob, thats a kick azz base, lol once again Diamond lacks of imagination even on that area.
